Our Story

Two women. Two diagnoses. Decades of periods that wouldn’t play by the rules.

Carla spent more than twenty years with endometriosis before it was diagnosed. Triin lives with severe adenomyosis.

Between us, we’ve leaked, layered, doubled up and planned our lives around our cycles, and we’ve tried nearly every product on the shelf.

We knew the products worked. We also knew we hated wearing them. Bulky, wet, obvious, and always the pair you changed out of the moment you got home.

What we wanted sounded simple. It wasn’t. We wanted underwear that could handle the worst days and still look and feel like underwear on all the ordinary ones.

It took us two years to get it right. Most of that time went into three things. The first was a custom gusset. The second was a cut that follows the natural curve of your body instead of cutting across it. The third was laser-cut edges with no hems or elastic to leave lines under your clothes.

The result is period underwear that looks and feels like regular underwear. No bulk, no nappy feeling and nothing that gives it away.

We built Akari for every flow.

We made it for the days we’d both had enough of.

And it turns out it’s what we reach for the rest of the month too.

Our Mission

To make period underwear you'd still wear on the days you don't need it.

A custom V-shaped gusset that follows you natural curves. Laser-cut edges, so there's nothing to to see under your clothes.

The protection you'd expect, in a shape you'd actually pick.

Same drawer. No separate section.

The reason we exist

Period underwear has come a long way. But we believe there’s still room to make it so much better.

More comfortable. More discreet. More reliable.

Your period underwear shouldn’t feel bulky, show through your favourite clothes, or leave you second-guessing whether it’ll hold up when you need it most.

While the industry has focused on simply adding more absorbency, we’re looking at the whole experience.

We’re rethinking the details that make period underwear truly worth wearing; so you can feel comfortable, confident, and completely yourself.
